Pasti gratis, bottiglie di vino e notti extra per non pubblicare recensioni negative su TripAdvisor: albergatori e ristoratori britannici hanno denunciato di essere “ricattati” da clienti che utilizzano il popolare sito come un’arma per estorcere sconti e favori. “E’ un fenomeno in crescita”, ha spiegato Martin Couchman, vicepresidente dell’associazione britannica degli albergatori, che ha invitato ristoratori e proprietari di hotel a segnalare questo tipo di abusi.
“Le persone tentano il ricatto durante il pasti o il soggiorno, oppure, cosa ancora piu’ preoccupante, utenti di TripAdvisor che non sono mai stati in un ristorante scrivono una recensione negativa e poi tentano di scroccare un pasto gratis di ‘riparazione'”, ha raccontato Couchman.
“Di solito i clienti si rivolgono al bar o ai camerieri e dicono ‘Sono un recensore senior di TripAdvisor’ e a quel punto si capisce che qualcosa e’ andato storto”, ha raccontato al Daily Mail Craig Savage, proprietario del ‘Double Barrel Steakhouse and Grill’ a Rotherham, nel South Yorkshire. Secondo Savage, 30 clienti dei mille serviti ogni settimana sono ‘ricattatori’.
“Quando rispondi alla lamentela e chiedi come si possa risolvere la questione, puoi essere certo che chiedono qualcosa in cambio”, ha spiegato.
Un portavoce di TripAdvisor ha sottolineato che lo staff del sito “prende molto seriamente le accuse su comportamenti ricattatori o di minaccia da parte degli ospiti nei confronti dei gestori dei locali”, invitandoli a “contattare immediatamente TripAdvisor”. Il sito ha assicurato che se il proprietario di un locale denuncia di essere stato minacciato da un utente del sito e’ possibile bloccare la recensione negativa prima che sia pubblicata.
