Con tre prosciutti su quattro venduti in Italia che sono in realtà ottenuti da maiali allevati all’estero, l’operazione dei Nas è importante per gli allevatori italiani e per i consumatori che sono troppo spesso costretti a subire l’inganno del falso Made in Italy.
E’ quanto afferma la Coldiretti nell’esprimere apprezzamento per l’operazione dei carabinieri del Nas di Parma che ha portato al sequestro in un prosciuttificio di Modena di oltre 90 mila prosciutti crudi, per un valore di 2,5 milioni di euro, di provenienza estera, ma privi della bollatura sanitaria prevista dalla normativa comunitaria che ne avrebbe consentito la rintracciabilità.
Si tratta di una operazione che conferma la necessità di recuperare il ritardo accumulato nell’applicazione della legge nazionale sull’obbligo di indicare in etichetta l’origine di tutti i prodotti alimentari, approvata all’unanimità dal Parlamento da oltre un anno.
In Italia si sono prodotte nel 2011 solo 24,5 milioni di cosce, mentre ne sono state importate 67 milioni di cosce di maiale destinate, con la trasformazione e la stagionatura, a diventare prosciutti “Made in Italy” (tra crudi e cotti) perché non è obbligatorio indicare la provenienza della carne di maiale in etichetta, a differenza per quello che avviene per quella bovina dopo l’emergenza Bse.
Fatta eccezione per i prosciutti a denominazione di origine protetta che garantiscono l’origine italiana (Parma, San Daniele, Toscano, Modena, Carpegna e Berico Euganeo), sul mercato – precisa la Coldiretti – è facile acquistare prosciutti contrassegnati dal tricolore, con nomi accattivanti come prosciutto nostrano o di montagna che in realtà non hanno nulla a che fare con la realtà produttiva nazionale.
Un inganno nei confronti dei consumatori e danni per i produttori che subiscono una concorrenza sleale perché mentre negli allevamenti italiani i maiali sono alimentati con prodotti di qualità sulla base di rigorosi disciplinari di produzione “Dop”, all’estero si usano spesso sottoprodotti se non addirittura sostanze illegali come è accaduto nel recente scandalo dei mangimi alla diossina prodotti in Germania e utilizzati negli allevamenti di polli e maiali.
L’inganno del “falso” Made in Italy non riguarda solo i prosciutti. Sul mercato italiano la metà delle mozzarelle è fatta con latte straniero senza alcuna indicazione in etichetta come pure tre cartoni di latte a lunga conservazione su quattro e, in generale, secondo l’indagine Coldiretti/Eurispes, il 33 per cento dei prodotti agroalimentari venduti in Italia ed esportati (per un valore di 51 miliardi di euro) deriva da materie prime importate e rivendute col marchio Made in Italy.
Una mancanza di trasparenza che favorisce inganni e frodi che deve essere superata con l’applicazione della legge per l’obbligo di indicare l provenienza in etichetta.
Con la crisi e la necessità di risparmiare anche sul cibo, le frodi a tavola sono diventate quelle più temute dagli italiani, con sei cittadini su dieci che le considerano più gravi di quelle fiscali e degli scandali finanziari, secondo i risultati di sondaggio Coldiretti-Swg.
Al secondo posto (40 per cento) vengono quelle fiscali, mentre le truffe finanziarie – conclude la Coldiretti – sono lo spauracchio del 26 per cento degli italiani, seguite a stretta distanza da quelle commerciali, come la contraffazione dei marchi (25 per cento).
